Kai Villanueva is a wedding photographer from Norfolk. Thanks for taking the time and answering our questions!

    1. When and how did you start with Photography?

I’ve always loved Photography since I was in high school. Then my husband got me my first camera (Canon T3i) when we first started dating 7 years ago. Never really used it since I was a full time student and was always busy with school. Then around September of 2016, right after we got married, we had to move to Florida and I took a semester break from school and decided to try Photography. LOVED it!! So I dropped out of school and went straight to Photography full time!!

    2. What inspires you the most?

My super amazing couples! I was so scared to start this business at first. I used to be an introvert, and starting Photography inspired me go out more, meet new people, make new friends, try new stuff, and be more adventurous. So meeting my couples and hearing their love stories inspires me the most!

    3. What do you like to do, if you are not behind the camera?

Hanging out with my husband! We always try to do something fun whenever we can. Sometimes we just stay at home, EAT and watch movies all day. CHIlLLL.

    4. Where was the best location you’ve been so far?

Okay, I’m new to Photography so I haven’t traveled as much. I’m gonna be traveling a lot this year though. So exciting! But probably, Joshua Tree! I went there a few months ago and fell in love!! Sunset there is sooooo gorgeous!

    5. Which equipment do you use mainly?

    I shoot with a Canon 6D and the Canon 35 1.4 L ii, 99% of the time.

    6. Do you have any tips to direct your couples how to pose?

I don’t pose my couples, but I give them fun stuff to do. I want them to be themselves and I want them to have fun. Lots and lots of movement! Every couple tells me that a session with me is like a workout because they’re always moving! I also always play music.

    7. What is your favourite life quote?

I have a lot! But my favorite is “She designed a life she loved”.

    8. What would you do now, if you hadn‘t become a photographer?

Well, I went to school for Computer Engineering so I would probably still be in school if I didn’t start Photography…doing lots of homework haha.
