The idea behind the shoot was to create images which symbolise freedom. Anna is an incredible Barcelona-based photographer and I was so happy for us to have the chance to work with her. Barcelona is one of my favourite places in the world and one of a few where I can really switch off and fully relax. It has a special meaning for me so coming back there a year after I photographed my first wedding in Spain felt incredible. Anna and her husband Alex have an amazing story behind their relationship as Anna is from Russia, Alex from Romania but they met on a desert in Arizona. So they started dating back in America and went on a Route 66 road trip together which felt like a dream. When summer came to an end though they both returned to their countries and had no hope this connection would survive. A few months passed and they didn’t even speak until Anna received a ‘Merry Christmas’ text from Alex. Since then they had spent hours on the phone and it quickly turned out they couldn’t live without each other. They saw each other every few weeks on city breaks in Europe and then Alex proposed to Anna on a New Year’s night in Montenegro. They moved to Barcelona and started new adventure together, with Anna becoming an incredibly successful photographer. They love travelling, their motorbike and of course each other. Their story shows that no distance is the limit for true love and as cheesy as it sounds it’s also very true. Where there’s a will there’s a way.
