"I love photography, but what I really love is storytelling. I believe that anyone can pick up a camera and teach themselves how to take pictures that are better than average, but I think there's something about storytelling that is more instinctual. It\'s not a process, it's a feeling."

While I try to work in unique locations regularly and feel I do a decent job of shaking things up, I’m most proud of the connection captured between these two newlyweds and the juxtaposition of young love surrounded by deterioration and old memories. Consider it a metaphor. While traveling through Des Moines, IA in 2019, I was giving advice to someone who was interested in starting her own event planning business. I told her that if she was serious about jumping into this business and would be willing to coordinate a session for one of her married friends, I’d be willing to photograph it for her as a way for her to showcase her talents. The day before our session was supposed to take place, our location plans fell through and we weren’t sure if it was even going to work out. Surprisingly enough, the junkyard was our backup location.
