1. When and how did you start with Photography?
My mom got me a camera when I was 14. I learned by doing self portrait projects and shooting with friends. Once I got into high school I started doing senior photos, families, and all that jazz. Then I shot a couple for my first time, and I remember something just clicked. I loved it. It came easy to me and I connected so well with couples. I then transitioned to shooting solely couples and weddings from then on. I’m going into my third year of being a full time photographer since I dropped out of college (hooray for being a college drop out haha!). I actually tried majoring in photography for a while but it just didn’t click with me. One professor even told me that I should probably shift gear and let go of my photography dream and pursue graphic design. That was the final push for me to drop out.
2. What inspires you the most?
Probably my husbabe Jay and this beautiful little planet. I’m constantly inspired by real life love and integrating that into how I shoot and create with others. I feel like people don’t realize that love isn’t like you see on the movies. It’s hard as hell and the best thing that could happen to anyone, and I want to capture all the messy happy imperfectness of that beauty. I also can’t help by being inspired by this incredible world we are given to explore every inch of.
3. What do you like to do, if you are not behind the camera?
Anything outdoors! I climb, camp, skydive (just got licensed, whoo!), hike, snowboard, anything to get me outside. Also dogs. I’m creepy obsessed with dogs, and I have two of my own!
4. Where was the best location you’ve been so far?
Oh man. That’s a toughie. I feel like every new location I go to is the best one haha. I think my all time favorite place in the world to shoot though is Oregon coast or the desert. I feel so at peace in the forest and there’s something so inspiring about the desert.
5. Which equipment do you use mainly?
I shoot on a Canon 5d Mark IV, and my favorite lenses are the Canon 35mm 1.4 and Canon 45mm TS-E 2.8.
6. Do you have any tips to direct your couples how to pose?
Let them be themselves and treat them like friends. Don’t be a stranger, and they’ll let you in and open up!
7. What is your favourite lifequote?
Oh man. I’m so indecisive haha, I have two!”Work hard and be nice to people.””The only thing standing between you and your goals is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself as to why you can’t achieve it.” – Wolf of Wall Street
8. What would you do now, if you hadn‘t become a photographer?
Probably a floral designer! I think when I’m done with photography I’ll work in florals, it has such a special place in my heart.
